Creepy Hand Soap

So, I might have missed the boat on these creepy baby hands soaps, since Boing Boing.com posted a review of these little guys back in 2007. But I was virtual window browsing at Room6, a cute little online shop that sells "special things for nice people," when I came across them in their "This & That" section. At first, I was really, really creeped out (so much I felt the need to share), but then I realized these are actually hilarious. Imagine walking to into someone's bathroom and seeing little fingers perched near the sink. It will definitely make any house guest do double-take.

I'm contemplating buying them just for S's & G's. If appendage soap isn't your thing check out Room6 anyways -- they have adorable jewelry and accessories.

Pumpkin Pecan Pancakes - Recipe

If you've been keeping up with our blog, you probably know Cake and I love baking, making, cooking, and eating. For Mother's Day, my sister and I decided to make our Mom a surprise breakfast with a few of her favorite ingredients. My Mom is more of a pancake kind of girl than an egg omelet one, and she loves pecans, but pecan pancakes just didn't seem like enough - and that's where the pumpkin comes in. I searched for the ultimate quick pumpkin pecan recipe and fell a little short. Knowing I was pressed for time, I decided to create my own little variation using boxed pancake mix and Betty Crocker syrup. Although from scratch is more my style, these pancakes were easy, fast, fluffy & delicious. I didn't follow the measurements to a tee, but here's what I did:

Kiss's Easy-Peasy Pumpkin Pecan Pancakes

Ingredients:

For Pancakes:
1 cup of Fiber One brand pancake mix (or any ready-to-make pancake mix)
1 cup of Lite Vanilla Soymilk
About 1/4 cup pecan pieces (chopped or broken)
1 tablespoon packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 cup of canned pumpkin
1 tsp. vanilla extract
A nice big sprinkle of cinnamon

For syrup:
1/2 cup - 1 cup of maple flavored syrup
1/4 cup pecan pieces

1. Stick your chopped or broken pecan pieces in an oven or toaster over for just a few moments to get a nice toasty, roasted taste.

2. In a saucepan, heat the maple syrup and pecans over low heat, stirring occasionally until warm.

3. Place a pan or griddle on stove and heat on medium. Spray the bottom of the pan with cooking spray (or I use a little bit of Earth Balance if I want them to be a little more buttery).

4. In a large bowl, mix all of the pancake ingredients together. Pour batter onto the griddle and heat until you start to see little bubbles in the mix.

Tip: Due to the soymilk and the pumpkin in these pancakes, they are a little more tricky when it comes to knowing when to flip. The pancakes are going to be more fluffy than firm so keep that in mind.

When ready to eat, pour syrup over and take a big bite!

Vegetarianism

Today, I was pondering Kiss' vegetarianism as I was eating what may just be my last piece of bacon. The reason I thought about the poor piggy I was eating was mainly because Kiss posted this link: what-does-inside-factory-farm-look-like on her Facebook page this past weekend. I cried when I got to the picture of the female pigs in gestation crates and the chickens packed in huge drawers. And, what's even worse is that yesterday, there was a "How it's Made" baby chicks episode! That made me never want to eat chicken again.

I already don't like to eat any kind of meat except chicken and ham, so I'm wondering if I can make it as a vegetarian. I doubt my carnivore instincts can be deprived of meat for too long, but I plan on decreasing my intake of meat. I envy how Kiss is able to be a vegetarian and almost vegan every day of her life!

**Picture from Marlerblog.com...super interesting articles on food poisoning.

Nail Polish for Spring and Summer! Sephora by OPI

Awhile back Kiss posted about Natalie Portman's yellow nail polish. Kiss, I totally think you should rock it.... and good news, yellow is a hot color for spring/summer! Sephora has teamed up with OPI for a new-ish line of nail polish colors that are "
Fashion-forward, wearable nail colors for the modern woman who is looking for an effective, safe, environmentally conscious brand." (and exclusively available at Sephora, obv.) Since Kiss' birthday party was this past weekend (and I wanted to look my best), I thought I'd head to the mall to check out the new colors.

I picked up "metro chic," which I wore to Kiss' super fun celebration, a dark gray with little bit of a purpleness to it. And, I bought "A true romantic," a classic light pink. I almost bought "IM Beauty," a nice bright yellow for Kiss... but then I realized I don't have limitless funds (...sorry bff). The best part of these polishes is that they seriously don't chip... unless your friends ask you to safety pin their bra straps and your nail and pin have a little encounter... but seriously, I've been wearing metro chic for a while now and my nails still look fab!

Check out all of the fantastic colors here: Sephora by OPI

Would you pay $30 for this grilled cheese?

The other day I was having a really reflective moment. I started looking back on my life and realized there are a lot of things I said I wanted to do that I just haven't done. As much as Cake and my other friends and I attempt to do new and exciting things, it seems we always fall back on the same old routine. The summer will be here before we know it, so I started making a little list of things I want to accomplish by next fall (stay tuned for Kiss and Cake's bucket list).

Part of this list of fun things to do was the "Gossip Girl" walk in NYC. The idea is to hit up as many GG spots mentioned or seen on the show in a day. One of these stops would have to be Gilt Restaurant at the New York Palace Hotel where they serve the "Gossip Grill" a tasty looking grilled cheese sandwich made with fontina cheese, truffles, and wild arugula salad. It's modeled after the sandwich Serena was eating in one of the earlier episodes where she is hanging out with Chuck and gets all wasty and hungry. According to Chris Lee, Gilt's executive chef, Blake and Penn came to eat at Gilt one night and suggested they change the sandwich name to "Gossip Grill - You Know You Love it." The only problem is, this sandwich will set you back at least $30 (and can go up to $50 depending on a truffles). On the up side, the recipe for it can be found here.

I can't decide if I am willing to shell out $30 for grilled cheese. But I have a feeling it's that damn good, so it's staying on the list for now. What do you think -- is $30 a little ridiculous. I mean, it is a recession!

xoxo,
Kiss

I got my TOMS on but they look like sneakers..

I have to admit, I'm such a sucker for a really good charity and a really good marketing campaign, which is why I couldn't get my mind off of these TOMS. For those who don't know, TOMS Shoes is a company started by "American traveler, Blake Mycoskie, [who] befriended children in Argentina and found they had no shoes to protect their feet." His idea became to create a company based on the premise that with every shoe a customer bought, he would donate a pair to a child in need. Voila - TOM Shoes were born. (Blake has certainly made a name for himself - you might recognize him from the recent Verizon Wirless commercials).

But these shoes are not your standard sneaker-and-ties. They are simple in design but come in array of colors, designs, and textures. The line has recently expanded to included boots and vegan friendly styles.

Feeling fanciful, I sprung for the gold glittery-ish ones. I had seen them on a girl in NY and loved the look. My only fear was that the shoes would be uncomfortable walking long distances, but so far so good. If you're looking for something in between casual and dressy that's not a heel or sandal and is moderately priced, this is a safe bet.

The Mild Benefits to Swine Flu

Benefits to swine flu? Before you start throwing rotten tomatoes my way, hear me out. Despite the illnesses and the world-wide hysteria (not to mention the absolutely grotesque and absurd slaying of innocent piglets) there is one positive to this madness: free hand sanitizer.

On my way out of Penn Station this morning I was handed a nice little free stack of Sani Hands hand sanitizer. Not only do I love free stuff, but it got me thinkin': if everyone in NYC and the world started being a little more conscious of germs and a little more cleanlier it could benefit us in more ways than just avoiding the swine. The flu even brought the Mayor of NYC to check out the health safety of subways.

Although there is no correlation to eating pig and getting the swine flu, the epidemic has caused a bit of scare in terms of pork products, and when more people eat less meat I think we all win.

P.S. Speaking of pigs -- there is this amazing organization called Farm Sanctuary that rescues animals from the torment of factory farms, etc. They just brought in an adorable, adorable little baby piglet named Fiona. Help Fiona out and donate!!

Sugar Shack

This weekend made me crave summer. First, Kiss and I ran the Lake Como 5k in Belmar, NJ. Kiss finished about 10 minutes faster than I did, yet she won't divulge any of her running secrets! After the race, we hit the beach for about 10 minutes, only to cover every inch of our bodies because of the freezing cold wind. For lunch, we hit up Surf Taco where we definitely fit in with all the highschoolers. After napping, our night took a spontaneous turn when Kiss forgot her ID at home and we ended up at the Sugar Shack.

The bartender at the Sugar Shack made us amazingly delicious watermelon, pineapple, and raspberry mojito's. Personally, I liked watermelon the best... maybe because that was my choice, or maybe because of the freshly sliced watermelon floating in my drink. I eyed the Sangria from afar and cannot wait to try it next time. The atmosphere was relaxed, and the decor was beachy, yet eclectic. Outside the Sugar Shack was a cute patio bar and a few tables. As soon as we stepped outside, my love for patio drinking was renewed!! Our new summer goal is to drink on as many patios as humanly possibly!

PS. Tip for meeting guys: Roll down your window and yell at cute motorcyclists. ;)

Getting Naked for Breakfast

So I still haven't seen Disneynature's Earth yet, but I definitely will by the end of this weekend - that's a promise. Last night I went out for a "light" dinner and drinks at Trattoria Toscana with a few friends to discuss a little project I am helping on and it got a little too late to catch a movie. (I say "light" because it turned into more a feast complete with wine, fresh mozzerella, polenta, and tiramisu. More on that later.)

This morning I was looking for something actually light to have for breakfast and came across Naked Juice's new Bare Breeze, made of 100% natural juice with no preservatives or added sugars. I used to be really anti-juice because it's so sugary and I'm pretty much and all water all the time girl, but lately I've been getting into it. I actually tried to the BluePrint Cleanse for three days (big mistake, I don't think I'm meant not to chew) and have contemplated buying a juicer. As long as it's fresh and natural, as opposed to drinks like Sunny Delight, the benefits of juice are pretty substantial. Not to mention, it gives your stomach a little bit of a break from working on all the other crap in there.

I tried out the Peach Mangosteen Bliss and it was definitely more peachy than mangosteen-y and kind of reminded me of something I would get on a cruise ship with a little umbrella stuck inside - sans the rum, of course. I don't think I could make it a daily staple because the sugar count is so high and also because I found myself pretty thirsty after drinking it, but I did feel quite energized and ready to go. Try it out if you're looking to mix it up.

Happy Earth Day!!

(image via zazzle.com)

Unless you've been hiding under a rock, you are probably well aware that today is Earth Day. There is no shortage of ways that you can give back to the Earth -- recycling, saving energy, buying eco-friendly garb and gear, etc.

And the Green movement just keeps getting better- have you seen the Peapod? Officially launched today, this car is ridiculously cute and runs on "no gas, no emissions, all electric, lots of love." If this car was plush-like I would just want to squish it and squeeze its cheeks. The downside is, it only goes up to around 35 mph, so it's ideal for small errands or crowded cities where high speed is't really an option (hello, nyc!). I can't wait to see one of these in actions.

Being green can also pay off - National Geographic and Sun Chips are awarding 20k to any creative individual who comes up with a new and innovative way to have an eco-friendly future. You can share your ideas on how to make the planet a better place at greeneffect.com I'm not a big Sun Chips eater, but the company's "big idea" comes in the form of the first compostable chip bag. I'll munch to that!

But don't forget - everyday is Earth Day.

Earth Week + Free Ice Cream. Thank you, April!

As Cake mentioned once before , we are big fans of the "Green" movement. Before being green was mainstream, my aunt worked for the Environmental Protection Agency and her love for all things natural rubbed off on me at an early age. I could usually be found saving frogs, cutting the plastic soda tops apart, and yelling at people for littering. Which is why every year I get really, really excited for April. Besides the fact that it is the month in which my birthday resides, it also includes Earth Day (April 22nd) and Arbor Day (April 24th). It's within this month that giving back to Mother Nature and showing appreciation for the Earth really enters the forefront. Yesterday kicked off "Earth Week" and their are tons of events going on around the nation. One in particular is Disney's latest, Disneynature Earth, which I whole-heartedly plan on attending tomorrow.

But besides all the Earth Day festivities, April is also good for a few other things.

Today marks Ben & Jerry's annual Free Cone Day. This year, B&J are celebrating 31 years of scooping. Ice cream not your thing? Grab a Dunkin Donuts Iced Coffee for a measly 50 cents. Proceeds go back to Homes For Our Troops.

I love April!

Skylark Diner in Edison, NJ -- a Big Random, Fun WTF!

On Friday, Cake and I went to Skylark Diner in Edison, NJ to celebrate our friend's birthday. I am big fan of diners since I like having multiple choices and believe in breakfast for dinner. Not to mention, diners and Jersey practically go hand in hand (Jersey has the most diners in the world).

I have never been to Skylark before, but was always intrigued by the space-age outside. Little did I know Skylark is more than your typical diner. It's one of the few diners that I know of that serve alcohol, and it seems they are aiming for a more "upscale" feel, which is interesting considering diners tend to be laid-back and no-frills. The dining room is a mix of space inspired lights and eclectic 70's-esque decor. The restrooms are surrounded by a light up "tunnel" reminiscent of Disney's Space Mountain.

The most interesting part of Skylark is their full bar. You could easily split Skylark in half and make it two places, because the scene on the bar side is much different than the dining room. There's a DJ and the place (apparently) gets packed with clubheads and dancers on the weekends. "Wait, this is a diner and a club-- crazy."

Needless to say, it's a pretty fun place. The food was mediocre, but I recommend the Key Lime Pie martini. Yummmmm.

Sunshine = Free Beer & Hot Dogs!!

Ok, so sunshine means a lot more than free beer and hot dogs (which is great because I don't even eat hot dogs). However, this weekend marks the grand opening of the Gowanus Yacht Club in Carroll Gardens, NY.

To celebrate, the outdoor drinking establishment is offering "free beer, free hot dogs, and excellent conversation" to those who stop by this Saturday the 19th. Mother Nature must be a big fan of free booze and recreation, because the weather is predicted to be in the 70s and sunny. Sounds like a good time to me.

In other weather related news..

This is how I feel sometimes: The Fucking Weather.com . Refreshing.

Weatherman, Do. Not. Lie. to me!

This is the weather forecast for this weekend. It hasn't been this promising in a long time. 69 and 68 degrees! That's practically 70, which is practically summer weather, which means it practically time for the beach ;).

I'm warning you weatherman, do not eff this up.

Lay, Leave, or Love: Star Trek

I watched Star Trek with my dad and brother throughout my childhood, which is why I cannot wait to see the new Star Trek movie! Plus, I love/used to love Heroes and am excited to see Sylar as Spock. Star Trek comes out May 8, 2009!

Chris Pine plays James T. Kirk, captain of the USS Enterprise. You may know him from The Princess Diaries 2 or Just My Luck with Lindsay Lohan. I don't really know much about him but he is HOT. I think I'll just LAY his 28 year old self... he looks like a bit of a player.

Zachary Quinto will be Spock, the half-human, half-vulcan, first officer on the USS Enterprise. He is best known at Sylar on Heroes and was born and raised in Pennsylvania. You wouldn't know it, but he's 31 years old... a good age to LOVE and marry. :)

John Cho is playing Sulu, the "helmsman" of the ship. I know him best as Harold from Harold and Kumar and I just googled to find out hes 36 years old! I never would have guessed. Too old. LEAVE. But still a cutie.

Simon Pegg is playing Scotty, as in "Beam me up, Scotty," the chief engineer. He's a tad too old for me at 39 years old, so I'll have to LEAVE him.

PS. Andy Samberg has been removed from the LOVE list due to numerous reports of his douchbaggery.

Burt's Bees = love

Kiss and I are slightly obsessed with the whole Green movement. We like to recycle, unplug, eat organic food and wish for hybrid cars.... So, in an effort to naturalize my skincare routine, I recently purchased some amazing products from Burt's Bees. Half of their products are made with 100% natural ingredients and they use the highest levels of recycled materials possible. (Check out all the ways Burt's Bees is trying to save our planet here.)

So far, I've obtained the Soap Bark & Chamomile Deep Cleansing Cream, which makes my face feel incredible soft, and the Garden Tomato Complexion Soap. The soap is kind of strange, but leaves my face feeling clean. I can't wait to get my hands on the semi-new line of anti-aging products called "Naturally Ageless." These products use pomegranate as a main ingredient to help "smooth fine lines and firm skin." I'll update you on how they work!

Review: Homemade S'meeps!

I was a really bad niece this year on Easter and totally played hooky instead of having dinner at my Aunt's house. It sounds awful, but I really didn't want to go, plus my sister is in the Bahamas and I like to avoid situations where I will be put on the hot seat and questioned about whether or not I am dating someone and why not. So I skipped it, with full permission from my parents. My dad even supplied the white lie to get me out of going. Not to mention, I sord of had more important things to do, like make S'Meeps and eat sushi from Kicky's. So I invited Cake over and we got to toasting.

A S'Meep, for those of you who don't know, is simply a S'More made with a Peep instead of a regular marshmellow. I actually hate Peeps. I'm still not really sure who actually eats them and likes them- but I really want to try this whole S'Meeps thing out.

The whole process is fairly simple. Set your toaster oven to 350. Take a graham cracker, split it in half, place a few pieces of chocolate on one of the halves, place that half on an aluminum tray topped with a Peep of your choice, and stick in the toaster oven for about 2 minutes and 30 seconds. The Peep will start expanding and start turning slightly brown, at which you know it is time to take them out. Then, place the remaining graham cracker on top.

At first, I was afraid to try the S'meep. Peeps are very, very sweet. Throw some chocolate into the mix and you have the recipe for a serious toothache. Suprisingly, it tasted really good. It wasn't at all as sugary as I predicted, and the S'meep had a nice toasty outside with a delectably mushy inside. Needless to say, Cake and I could only eat about one and a half before being over it and reaching for a glass of water. But all in all it was a success.

Have you been watching VH1'S Tough Love?

At first I thought- OK, another one of VH1's lame reality shows with half naked catfights, 90s rockers on tour buses, and mud wrestling. But then, I decided to give Tough Love a chance. I'm officially addicted. First of all, Steve Ward is as cute as a button and I can accept his advice without thinking of him as pompous and/or arrogant. Dare I say, I see a few of my flaws some of these girls (minus the ex-stripper and the one from Scottsdale who is just nuts) and I am totally heeding Steve's advice. I almost want to run out on a date as we speak and see if it works. I like how the matchmaker is man. I mean, doesn't that make most sense - to hear what a guy has to say?

I even went as far as to tasking Steve if he was single on Twitter. Does that make me a little Miss Fatal Attraction? Maybe, but it was worth it. I wonder how much he charges?

Symptoms of Seasonal Affective Disorder

I won't deny it. I'm a hypochondriac. I once thought my kidney was failing, that I had a brain tumor, and a slight case of narcolepsy. But most of the time it's just a sinus infection. Lately though, I have been feeling extra down in the dumps, and by lately I mean this week. I couldn't put my finger on the problem but noticed the fact that I was 10 times happier yesterday when the sun came out for about 45 minutes. Thus, I concluded, I must be suffering Seasonal Affective Disorder. I mean seriously, it's officially Spring - so why is the sky consistently gray and the wind so chilly?

I did a little research (aka googled) and found I am indeed suffering the symptoms:
  • Depression (check!)
  • Hopelessness ("he's never going to call. i'm going to be a cat lady, it's hopeless")
  • Anxiety (yup!)
  • Loss of energy (absolutely. another round of caffeine, anyone?)
  • Social withdrawal ("kiss, want to go out tonight?" -cake "no!" -kiss)
  • Oversleeping (if only i could)
  • Loss of interest in activities you once enjoyed (boo eff drinking, dancing, and laughing)
  • Appetite changes, especially a craving for foods high in carbohydrates (would explain my tortilla chip, waffle, and pretzel binges)
  • Weight gain (see above)
  • Difficulty concentrating and processing information (my boss: "erika, have you done xyz?" me: what, i'm sorry i wasn't paying attention.")
So there you have it. Turns out the only cures on nice weather and light box therapy. Although tequila might help. Sigh.

My First Time! (and Now it Might Soon Be Illegal)

On Friday, I got my very first Brazilian bikini wax. I've been wanting to do it for a long time but could never justify a reason to. Well, once I found my reason and an amazing deal courtesy of Lifebooker, I decided to go for it. For those of you who have never had one - be prepared to drop your pants and feel the pain. I'm not typically shy about my body when it comes to things like doctors and spas - they see naked people all the time- but something was different about this. You feel very vulnerable when you realize your laying butt-ass naked on the table at the mercy of a woman with a hot stick of wax.

At first it was painful and I yelled a few times. The woman kept reminding me to breathe and relax. By the end, the pain wasn't so bad but I was started to feel a bit of regret. The next morning, regret had subsided. Everything was pain-free and baby smooth. I could get used to this! With bikini season right around the corner (or so I hope) I have a feeling I might be tempted to make a few more stops to the waxer. When explaining to Cake how I popped my Brazilian bikini wax cherry, she mentioned to me she heard our great state of Jersey was thinking about banning brazilian waxing. Apparently, it already isn't allowed as the “The genital area is not part of the abdomen or legs as some might assume."

At risk of giving TMI, I originally wasn't going to post about this topic, but Cake was right. They are considering doing away with the whole two women in NJ reported having wax injuries. um, Yikes. Check out the full story on MSNBC.

This is a joke, right?

Happy First Day of Spring!!

Mother Nature is such a tease!! On the first day of Spring it is snowing in NY! I checked the weather last night and this morning - there was no mention of any little white flakes. I'm convinced she is getting back at us for our lack of care for the Earth. It's all about Karma.

Although its snowy and grey outside today, here are a few spring-like images to celebrate today:

My Favorite Hangover Preventer

The devil in me got the best of me yesterday. After I swore I would not go out for St. Patrick's Day, I found myself doing a little barhopping and stumbling home around 12:30. Knowing that I had to get up early this morning for work, I thought about what I could do to prevent a massive hangover. My new go-to recipe? Coconut water and Advil.

The "science" behind a hangover is essentially this: you're body is dehydrated and going through a mini-withdrawal of alcohol and sugar. Coconut water is not only delcious, but it's one of nature's best re-hydrators. It's full of potassium, good-for-you sugars, and electrolytes that replenish the body. Have you ever heard of drinking Gatorade to help a hangover? Well this has a similar effect without the altered sugars and processed chemicals. Although Newsweek claims hangovers can't be cured, I'm telling you- this stuff works. There's a few brands currently on the market and they range in flavors from regular to pineapple to mango.

Bonus: It kind of makes you feel like your on a beach in the tropics while drinking.

This Gives a New Meaning to Kegs & Eggs

Breakfast time is way over by now, but it is still St. Patrick's Day, so if you're feeling adventurous you might want to try out this recipe from Tasting Table:

Bushmills in the Afternoon
Adapted from Jackson Cannon, Eastern Standard
Makes 1 drink
1/2 slice (about ¾-inch thick) of artisanal wheat bread
2 ounces Bushmills Irish whiskey
1 egg
1/2 ounce honey syrup (1 part honey dissolved in 1 part warm water)
1/2 ounce fresh orange juice
Dash of Reagan's Orange Bitters No. 6 (or other orange bitters)
Freshly grated cinnamon, for garnish
In a glass, muddle the bread with the whiskey for 1 minute, then pass the mixture through a tea strainer into a cocktail shaker, pressing on the bread to extract all of the whiskey (you should get about 1 1/2 ounces). Add the egg, honey syrup, orange juice and bitters and shake vigorously for 30 seconds. Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for 30 seconds to 1 minute longer, until the drink is frothy and well-chilled. Strain into a cocktail glass and garnish with a small pinch of freshly grated cinnamon.

I'm not so sure how I feel about cinnamon, whiskey, eggs, orange juice and bread in my cocktail, but it was created by mixologist Jackson Cannon at Boston's Eastern Standard so he must know what's he doing, right?

Happy St. Patrick's. Go Green & Get Lucky.

This morning I woke up a little confused. Being part Irish, and proud of it, normally St. Patrick's Day is a day I fully celebrate with joy. I wear green, whip out my four leaf clover jewelry, have a green bagel for breakfast, and wish everyone good luck on finding their pot of gold.

But this morning felt just like any other day. This is because two Saturdays ago my friends and I spent the whole day decked out in green, drinking beer at the Hoboken St. Patty's Parade. Even though I got all Irish-ed out a few weekends ago, I realize I have to sack -up and get into the spirit. So here it is, my suggestions for how to get into the St. Patty's Day spirit (in no particular order):

1. Have a green bagel for breakfast. Or better yet, some Lucky Charms.

2. Make green beer. Drink green beer. According to DIY Life.com, to achieve a true green color it's best to mix blue food coloring with yellow beer. Green food coloring will work just as well too. Visit the site for more detailed instructions.

3. Have Corned Beef and Cabbage. My mom used to make this every year for St. Pat's Day. I am a vegetarian so here is my version: Vegan Corned Beef and Cabbage (it tastes just as good and is better for you!)

4. Tell everyone to Kiss You because "You're Irish." Hey, kissing to lead to other lucky things.

5. Go to an Irish Pub. If you're in New York City, the St. Patrick's Day parade is today, so any pub with an O', Mc', or St. is probably a good choice. Two I would recommend? Stout NYC on 33rd and Molly's Pub and Restaurant on 3rd Avenue. But the choices are endless. In Jersey, try Dubliner in Hoboken or McDonaugh's in Keyport. While you're there, test out an Irish Car Bomb or the Black Velvet

Really though - any pub with Guinness or Bailey's will do just fine. Cheers!

Holy Goodness Get me to a Newsstand!

I think Cake would agree with me on this one - I would love, lay, and never leave Zac Efron. In fact, I have often secretly wished he would leave Vanessa and we would accidentally run into each other somewhere, starting a crazy love affair. Well my favorite Disney hottie got down and dirty this month for an Interview magazine shoot. I mean- sweaty, muddy, and rolling around with a naked girl.

Scroll through. You're welcome.

Natalie Portman's Yellow Nail Polish: Do or Don't?

Another girl crush of mine (I promise I'm not a lesbian) is Natalie Portman. She's smart, talented, really pretty, and a vegetarian. Always on the cutting edge with her bright and pretty fashion choices, she was recently spotted sporting bright yellow nail polish at an event.

I have been cutting back on getting manicures to save money and because within an hour I usually have at least one chipped nail, but I've been in the mood for one lately and have been searching for that perfect "spring is coming" color. I really like the neon color and think it looks great on Natalie but I was wondering how it would translate on my nails. Is it too neon? Could I pull it off? What do you think?

IT'S BRITNEY, BITCH!

Britney killed it last night at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. The show was phenomenal from start to finish. It's so great to see her back on stage doing what she loves. I loved all of it but some of my favorite parts were the "Bollywood" section, the remix of Hit Me Baby One More Time, and Perez "opening" the show in an over-the-top video. To my delight, Britney got very naughty in the middle with a "fetish-esque" video, which made me worry a little for the Dad and his children sitting three rows ahead of us. (Although the Dad seemed pretty into it). I got a little sad towards the end when they remixed a bunch of Britney's past videos. It's crazy to see where she was to where she is now.

The crowd was quite a mix that included little girls, little girls in skanky outfits, lots of fedoras, groups of gay men, sequin-wearing cougars, grandparents, and of course, 18-25 year old women. My only negative comment is that Britney rarely spoke. In her previous concerts she would stop many times and say things to the audience, but in Circus she addressed us about two times. Still, it was amazing and now I have a few new dance moves to try out. Props to the PussyCat Dolls too who got the crowd very, very excited and made me want to join the group.

And the secret special guest? Fergie. But we never saw her. Damn.
